Traffic Volumes
  • PD Teesport proposes to create a deep sea container terminal with 1000m of quay deck, plus minimum 14.5m channel depth and a berth pocket of 16m depth.

  • Container volume throughput at Teesport could rise to a maximum at 1,500k teu (in and out) per annum = 450,000 containers in (and some 450k out) per annum.

  • Current port volumes see 16,000 vessel movements per annum, of which 5,500 are ship visits (arrivals), i.e. 100+ per week or 15 per day.

  • Current rail movements into Teesport are 14 trains (= 28 paths) per day.

  • More detailed traffic volume information is available within the full Transport Assessment which may be viewed here
