Royal Haskoning, Consultant Engineers, appointed to undertake feasibility study for PD Ports.

May 2005 SJ Berwins appointed as Legal Advisers to the Project.
June 2005 Environmental Scoping Report (ESR) issued to Statutory Consultees for comment.
Summer 2005 Discussions with potential customers and lobbying of Central Government for a UK-wide National Ports Strategy
July to October 2005 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) work undertaken by Royal Haskoning.
October 2005
Feasibility Study approved by PD Ports.
November 2005
Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners appointed as Planners.
December 2005 Completion of the EIA, resulting in production of the Environmental Statement.
November - March 2006 Preparation of Planning Application, in conjunction with a public consultation exercise and ongoing Commercial Discussions
April 2006
Submission of HRO (Department for Transport [DfT]) & Planning Application (Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council [RCBC])
May 2006 Submission of TWA Order (DfT)
March 2007

Submission of Supplementary Data to the Environmental Statement to RCBC & the DfT

19 April 2007 Last TWAO objection withdrawn (ICI C&P)
26 April 2007 Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council approve Outline Planning permission for the Northern Gateway Project.
10 September 2007 HPUK Withdraw Objections with DfT & RCBC (HRO/PA).

2010
First phase construction to start.
2012 First container handled.
